The Lord and Lady
Lavender Products come from the Moonglow Ranch, situated in
the peaceful Camas valley in Douglas County, Oregon.
Moonglow Ranch was established in March 2003, when I planted
my first lavender starts on a rainy afternoon. I knew
nothing about farming except that I wanted to do it!
By 2004 I was ready to leave Calif and move full time to
Western Oregon.
With very little capital, (a loan from my boss who later
gifted it to me, (thank you Nick), I bought the property and
began buying and cloning lavender on this beautiful 10 acre
parcel located in the hills of Western Oregon. I’m still
cloning and planting and will hopefully continue to do so
for the rest of my life.
With the help of my horse, Moria, I have personally planted
and fertilized every lavender bush on the property. I use no
poisons or pesticides. I don't even have a tractor but I'd
love to get one. My crop is still small enough for me to do
all of the harvesting myself but I admit that this is
becoming a rather overwhelming task.
Moving to Oregon took a huge leap of faith. In the
beginning, I worked as a waitress at the local restaurant to
make ends meet, but finally got a job teaching music at the
local school with my partner, Jerry Ashford.
Jerry made the move with me and has helped with almost every
endeavor. We’d been musical partners in the duet Moonglow
for 10 years, so we also do a gig here and there to help
with the $$$$.
If I am the visionary, Jerry is the brains of the operation,
building the lavender distiller; managing and improving our
‘off the grid’ status with solar panels and battery
maintenance; helping with beekeeping and animal care; fence
mending and making. He’s also a great cook, makes wine and
is a fun person to be around. Jerry also acts as Lord and
Lady Lavender’s art department and Think Tank.
We are constantly trying to make Moonglow Ranch a more
beautiful, efficient and productive place and have future
plans of opening an onsite store and tea garden to host
weddings and social events. . . I figure Moonglow can
provide the music.
One day I heard somebody say: "Do what you love, the money
will follow."
Lord and Lady Lavender products are made fresh to order with
ingredients that you can pronounce!
I try to meditate on positive thoughts when I put together
my product and I really enjoy my work --- It’s fun and it
smells great!
